The Honourable Simmi (Kanwaldeep) Sandhu

Judge Sandhu is a distinguished jurist with over 30 years of experience in administrative law, adjudication, and leadership in the justice system. Called to the Bar of British Columbia in 1990, she currently serves as a Judge on both the United Nations Appeal Tribunal (UNAT), where she served as President in 2023, and the Asian Development Bank Administrative Tribunal (ADBAT). Judge Sandhu previously served as Chair of the Civil Resolution Tribunal of British Columbia, a global leader in online dispute resolution, and as Chair and CEO of the Property Assessment Appeal Board of BC for seven years. She is a recipient of BCCAT’s Award for Exceptional Service to the Administrative Tribunal Community and is a longstanding instructor with the BC Council of Administrative Tribunals. Judge Sandhu has been a leader in advancing reconciliation, diversity, and innovation within the administrative justice sector and has presented internationally on topics such as online dispute resolution and access to justice. Her international adjudication experience and deep commitment to fair and inclusive justice systems make her a tremendous asset to our Board.
