Gang Wars: Justice in Our Times

As part of its 20th anniversary celebrations, the Justice Education Society partnered with the Vancouver Sun and Shaw to present Gang Wars: Justice in Our Times.

On Thursday, June 11, the Justice Education Society hosted a forum that featured experts on the gang problem. You can watch a video of the forum.

The panel examined the problem’s seriousness as well as the solutions needed by our justice system and communities to take action against gangs. The forum was moderated by The Honourable Judge Pedro de Couto, President of the Justice Education Society, and included:

  • Superintendent Dan Malo, Officer in Charge, BC Integrated Gang Task Force
  • Teresa R. Mitchell-Banks, Q.C., Deputy Director (Special Prosecutions), Ministry of the Attorney General
  • Kim Bolan, journalist, Vancouver Sun
  • Theresa Campbell, Manager, Safe Schools, Surrey School District
