Rick Craig - rick.craig(at)justiceeducation.ca
Rick Craig is the Executive Director of the Justice Education Society and serves as a consultant on international projects. Rick has over 30 years of experience in international development and has worked on international legal education projects in South Africa, Guatemala, China, and Ethiopia.
Cal Deedman
Cal Deedman is a Senior Crown Prosecutor in the Criminal Appeals and Special Prosecutions office (CASP) of the Ministry of the Attorney General of British Columbia. He has been working with the Justice Education Society since 2000, and is the Lead Content Expert for the JES’s international programs. He is fluent in Spanish and familiar with the workings of both the Guatemalan and Canadian criminal justice systems.

Evelyn Neaman is the International Programs Manager for the Justice Education Society. She has been with the JES since 1991. Since 2000, she has managed international projects in Montenegro, China and Ethiopia. She has also organized public engagement events in Canada on the Society’s international work including documentary screenings of It’s Time: African Women Join Hands Against Violence.
Robyn Trask
Robyn Trask is the Ethiopian Project Consultant for the Justice Education Society, and is legal counsel with the British Columbia Teachers' Federation. Ms. Trask has spent time working with legal organizations in Sierra Leone and Ethiopia, most recently working with the Ethiopian Women Lawyers Association in 2006 and 2007. Ms. Trask has previously acted as a staff lawyer with the Inquiry into Pediatric Forensic Pathology in Ontario and acted as co-counsel to the Ontario Provincial Police Association at the Ipperwash Inquiry.

Elias is the Senior International Accountant for the Justice Education Society. He has a background in Accounting (M.SC.) and Business (B.A.). Currently, Elias is also a PACE level CGA student. Prior to this role Elias worked for YVR Airport as a Financial Analyst, as an Accountant for Lehigh Northwest Cement Limited Richmond and Alpha Technology Burnaby as an Accountant. Prior to Canada Elias worked in International Project Accounting in the States for Government agencies; international Foundation election and ACDIVOCA: US aid contractor. He has more than 10 years of accounting experience in private and non-profit sectors. Elias is originally from Ethiopia.

Adriana is the International Program Assistant at the Justice Education Society. She has a background in International Relations (M.A.) and Business (B.A.). Prior to joining JES, Adriana worked in the office of International Learning Programs at UBC. She brings a variety of skills from her studies in four countries and ten years of experience in the private and public sectors. Adriana is keen on issues affecting Latin America as she grew up in Mexico, and is pleased to use her experience, knowledge and Spanish speaking skills on JES's international projects.

Daniela is the International Finance Assistant at the Justice Education Society. She obtained her Bachelor of Commerce from the UBC Sauder School of Business in June 2010. Prior to joining JES, Daniela worked at HSBC. Born in Honduras, she is very passionate about the work JES is doing in Central America and excited to be part of this team.

Edgar Morales is the Latin American Logistics Officer at Justice Education Society. He has a background in Communications (B.A.). Edgar brings to the International team his experience in office management, customer service, and marketing. He was born in Guatemala. He enjoys his work at JES as it has broader his experience and it has given him the opportunity to learn more about JES’s work in his native Guatemala and Central America.
Anne Catherine Bajard - annecatherine.bajard(at)justiceeducation.ca
Anne Catherine Bajard is the Project Coordinator for Latin America. She has close to twenty years of experience in the management of social and economic justice programs. She lived in South America for fifteen years, managing European and Canadian international development programs with a focus on indigenous rights, women’s rights, and community economic development. Before joining JES, Anne Catherine was leading a Danish project for media development in post-earthquake Haiti.

Guatemala Team

Jorge Quiñonez, Project Coordinator for Central America
Jorge is responsible for directing JES activities in Central America and for implementing the annual plans. He is a lawyer by training and has been collaborating with JES for over five years. During this time, he managed projects related to Criminal Analysis and Investigations, Crime Scene Examination, Major Case Management and Oral Trials Trainings in Guatemala and Honduras. Jorge had also worked previously as a consultant for the United Nations Development Program, in a project to strengthen Guatemala’s judicial system.
Yuri Leonardo, Accountant
Yuri is a seasoned professional with over 20 years of experience in administration and accounting. He has worked for private companies such as Johnson & Johnson and non-profits such as CARE in Guatemala. He has a B.A in Accounting and completed several MBA courses in Finance. He currently manages all the accounting and finances for JES Guatemala office.
Marilú Pérez, Administrative and Finance Assistant
Marilú provides finance and operations assistance, and supports the Coordinator with general office administration. She is also responsible for logistical planning of events and trips by the Guatemala office staff. Marilú studied Business Administration and is currently enrolled in a Master Program in Human Resources.
Alejandro Elías, Project Officer, Building Effective Justice Systems Project in Guatemala
Alejandro coordinates and implements project activities in Guatemala, which include Crime Scene Examination, Major Case Management and Oral Trials. He brings to the team expertise developed through several years of work at the Judiciary and the Public Prosecutor’s Office in Guatemala. His professional designations include a Bachelor´s degree in Law and a Master’s in Criminal Law.
Erick Toledo, Project Officer, Special Methods of Investigation
Erick is in charge of the coordinating Special Methods of Investigation project activities in Guatemala, El Salvador and Honduras. As a training, implementation and monitoring expert, he works closely with other consultants and the relevant justice sector institutions. Previously, Erick worked several years as homicide investigator and as an investigations coordinator at the Public Prosecutor’s Office in Guatemala.
Carlos Alberto Moran Agustín – Project Officer, Building Effective Justice Systems Project in Honduras
Carlos coordinates the project activities in Honduras in the areas of Crime Scene Examination, Major Case Management and Oral Trials. Previous to joining JES, Carlos worked 10 years for the Criminal Investigations Bureau in the Public Prosecutor’s Office in Guatemala. Thanks to his experience in the justice sector, Carlos has a keen understanding of the problems affecting the region and is well equipped to work with our partner institutions in Honduras.

Ethiopia Team

Woubshet Kibru Melese, JES Coordinator, Building Effective Justice Systems Project in Ethiopia
Woubshet coordinates the JES Building Effective Justice System project activities in Ethiopia. This work involves implementing multi-sector training in Crime Scene Examination, Major Case Management and Oral Trial skills. Woubshet has a Bachelor of Laws (LLB) from Addis Ababa University and an LLM in International Development Law and Human Rights, from the University of Warwick. His professional experience includes work as a Federal High Court Judge from 1994-2000 and serving as the President of the Federal High Court of Ethiopia from 2000-2007. While President of the Court, he was also the Deputy Director for the Federal Judicial Training Center.
