About Us

  • In Ethiopia, 78% of women believe that disobeying a husband justifies domestic violence.
  • Guatemala features 5,300 murders per year, with fewer than 15 convictions.
  • Honduras’ murder rate is 82 killings per 100,000 people - nearly 20 times greater than the United States.

These statistics are from countries with broken justice systems. Broken, but not irreparable. We work to build the capacity of justice systems so that murderers, organized crime members and perpetrators of violence against women can be brought to justice.

This work is made possible through ongoing partnerships with the Canadian International Development Agency as well as the Department of Foreign Affairs and International Trade.

Our International Program features three components:

Criminal Justice Strengthening
This four-year program is strengthening the Rule of Law in Guatemala, El Salvador, Honduras and Ethiopia. By training police, prosecutors and judges, the program will help the justice systems in these countries better respond to serious violent crimes and crime against women. Public Legal Education
This program is providing technical support in the production of clear, easily-understood legal information for marginalized groups in Vietnam. Learn more.

Public Engagement
Public engagement is how we publicize and promote our achievements. Activities include public events, communication tools and multimedia resources. Learn more.
