Free Workshop Provides Separating Parents With Proven Strategies for Dealing with Finances

Law Courts Education Society is pleased to announce the launch of a free 3 hour workshop for parents going through separation or divorce.

Designed as a ‘next step’ to our successful workshops, Parenting After Separation, our latest offering Financing After Separation provides information and strategies about finances for parents, extended family members and other members of the community who provide support to parents and children working through the process of separation and divorce.

“Dealing with separation or divorce can be tough legally, socially and emotionally, and often the practical details of finances get pushed aside for more immediate issues such as custody, feelings loss or fear, caring for children etc., said Terri Russell, Law Courts Ed Parenting After Separation Manager. “We hope this set of workshops will lessen the burden of problem solving issues of money – budgeting and debt, division of assets, child and spousal support – and help parents develop business-like strategies for moving forward with money in the long term.”

Sessions are now being offered by family facilitators in different areas of the Lower Mainland and Nanaimo and are free to the public. To find out more about this program, visit the Law Courts Ed website at www.lces.ca.
