Vancouver, BC – On January 14, British Columbians will have a new resource when learning about administrative law or searching and preparing for a tribunal. AdminLawBC.ca is the first website in Canada to bring information on the complete range of admin law resources together under one domain.
Administrative law involves the resolution of disputes involving government law as well as how those laws are applied. There are hundreds of municipal, provincial, federal and specialized tribunals.
The website’s features include videos explaining administrative law and its range of agencies as well as links to local, provincial, federal and specialized tribunals, such as the Workers Compensation Appeal Tribunal and the Employment Standards Tribunal. Also included is a list of experts available to speak about numerous administrative law areas.
“Administrative law affects us in numerous ways every day,” said the Honourable Judge Pedro de Couto, President of the Board, LCES. “Increasing access to our province’s administrative law resources will allow British Columbians to find the correct information they need quickly and easily.”
AdminLawBC.ca was developed by the LCES and the British Columbia Council of Administrative Tribunals (BCCAT), with support from the Administrative Justice Office, Justice Services Branch, Ministry of the Attorney General of BC. Funding was provided by the Notary Foundation of BC and the Law Foundation of BC.
“Knowing the appropriate tribunal exists and how disputes are settled is essential to fair justice,” said BCCAT president Iain Macdonald. “Public interest is well-served through the creation of this informative and important legal resource.”
